DISASTER RECOVERY: DATA CENTRES

Our providers primary offshore datacentre is housed in a purpose built facility on the outskirts of St Helier with a second located several miles away.

The primary datacentre sits on the communications fibres laid to France by The Jersey Electricity Company and is in close proximity to Jersey Telecom for other circuits. This provides for the most resilient communications design whilst providing the optimal communication speed in the most cost efficient manner. The two datacentres are linked by diverse fibre and wireless connections creating one logical network.

We are committed to zero power downtime; this means that the design point from inception was to build a power and environmental infrastructure with no single point of failure.  All critical systems in our datacentre are duplicated or are provisioned using N+1.

Constant monitoring ensures that any problem receives immediate attention.  This level of design and fault tolerance is aimed at businesses where the reliability of service to customers is paramount.

Infrastructure design includes the following:
  • Two independent sources of electrical supply from separate transformers
  • Two distribution restoration standby generators on site
  • Duplicated UPS systems including maintenance bypass
  • Power distribution utilising critical power distribution units connected with static switches and including maintenance bypasses
  • Dual radial individually fused circuits to client racks and equipment
  • Fire detection system with a mixture of optical and ionisation detectors in floor, room, and ceiling voids
  • Fire suppression system utilising FM200 gas in floor and room
  • N+1 redundant self contained full function, close coupled, DX down flow units
  • Temperature and humidity monitoring and control to maintained 21° centigrade +/- 2° and 50% relative humidity +/- 10%
  • Access control system using proximity card readers. Pin numbers required in addition to card for datacentre areas
  • Digital CCTV monitoring and recording system
  • Water leak detection system
  • System monitoring by IS1000 building management system
Irrespective of whether your business is a stand alone e-commerce company, a subsidiary providing an internet delivery channel or offshore business contingency planning, our facilities are sufficiently flexible to meet a wide range of business applications.

DISASTER RECOVERY: NETWORKS

We are committed to zero unplanned network downtime.  This means that the design point from inception was to build a communication infrastructure with no single point of failure, every critical device and system in our offshore datacentre is duplicated so that multiple diverse routes are always available.

Constant monitoring ensures that any problem receives immediate attention.  This level of design and fault tolerance is aimed at businesses where the reliability of service to customers is paramount.  As a neutral Internet Business Exchange we are independent of any single telecommunications carrier, operator or Internet Service Provider ensuring the ultimate offshore fault tolerant environment for your business.

The backbone is peered with multiple upstream ISPs and based on high end Cisco routers and switches to provide the ultimate in network reliability and availability.  A manned 24x7 operations team ensures that the network is always available and that the traffic is engineered for optimal performance.
